Forkelo ranking · Updated October 2026
6 carne asada burritos across San Francisco, ranked on what people say about the dish itself — never the restaurant's overall rating.
La Taqueria · Mission
17 dish-specific mentions · 59% positive · 4 source types · menu verified September 2026
Riceless build lets smoky, thinly cut carne asada, pintos, and guacamole lead. Dorado crisps the tortilla; Chronicle and Infatuation both crown the asada order.
Taqueria Cancún · Mission
4 dish-specific mentions · 50% positive · 3 source types · menu verified September 2026
Huge carne asada super with grilled tortilla option; late-night Mission standby. Eater leans pollo asado here, but diners still order asada dorado.
El Farolito · Mission
7 dish-specific mentions · 57% positive · 4 source types · menu verified September 2026
Tender, well-spiced carne asada in a massive foil-wrapped super with avocado, cheese, and crema. Late-night Mission staple with consistent Infatuation and local praise.
El Metate · Mission
3 dish-specific mentions · 67% positive · 2 source types · menu verified September 2026
Juicy asada in a long, soft tortilla with generous guacamole and crema. Infatuation ranks it among SF’s best; some Yelp diners flag salt or skimpy meat.
3 dish-specific mentions · 67% positive · 2 source types · menu verified September 2026
Large carne asada supers and a deep salsa bar keep Pancho Villa in Mission burrito conversations, with older lukewarm-meat dissent on file.
2 dish-specific mentions · 50% positive · 2 source types · menu verified September 2026
Smoky carne asada super burrito with solid local Yelp praise on 24th Street. Branch-pinned away from the Excelsior Guadalajara Infatuation write-up.
Every score is built from evidence about the specific dish: how often locals recommend it, how strongly, how recently, and whether independent sources agree. A restaurant's overall star rating is never converted into a dish score.
Quality and confidence are reported separately. A dish two people loved can score high, but it is marked limited data until more evidence backs it up. The whole calculation — every constant, and three dishes worked through line by line — is written out on the methodology page.
